Introduction
We were delighted to have been selected to work with this prestigious organisation providing a wide range of promotion and exhibition materials for the SCAE World of Coffee event held in Maastricht.
Previous experience told us that the managing and staging exhibitions presents a very fast paced environment that demands attention to detail and absolute commitment to deadlines.
Working closely with the event organiser and their PR agency, we provided branding and marketing consultancy as well as vital support in implementation of campaigning that spanned a four month period in the run up to the show in June 2011.
The brand brief
Each event staged by the SCAE uses a unique branding and marketing approach according to the specific exhibition content, location of the event and ever changing target audiences for the client. As a flagship event in the SCAE calendar, we were asked to review all existing materials and offer a more cohesive and contemporary approach to the creation of a brand style for this years show. Our inspiration for the designs created came from the rich and soothing tones of the core product coffee, and this was carried through and complemented with a mixture of effective photographic crops and treatments, stylish typography, contemporary colours and textures.
This style was used throughout a range of on and offline activities – with the Elan team providing consultancy and implementation support where the Association’s in-house team or their existing third party partner resources were unable to.
The solution
The flexibility of our approach offered the SCAE the ability to tailor their requirement for best fit to existing supplier relationships.
Using our range of experience in driving cross channel marketing together with an agreement on brand, were able to quickly create and produce a consistent and relevant range of hardcopy materials including leaflets, tickets, advertisements, exhibition floor plans, visitor and exhibitor leaflets and brochures to generate return on investment.
The offline activity was supported by a strong online and digital presence for which we designed and built a targeted micro site which is linked heavily to the main Association site - giving the organisers a marketing advantage in linking and content as well as an opportunity to establish the events team as “independent” to the Associations core activity. To supplement the micro site we were briefed to design, build and populate weekly e-marketing updates for transmission by an existing third party partner.
Finally, at the event itself, the brand style was carried through all the materials required such as registration documentation, temporary signage and advertising banners in and around the exhibition hall. A full range of media has been created for this event but we have ensured that as many materials as possible have been future proofed so the client has the peace of mind that for the next event most, if not all, of the materials already exist and require relatively minimal adjustments for the population of the new brand and content.
