Demand great visual marketing communications and make your business jive!
Question:
How many marketing communications have you seen this week that are consciously memorable on first sight, i.e. you can recall the key messages and the name of the product/service/brand.
And now think about how many have you seen that have not even registered? Maybe even this one?
Answer:
Messages received this week via advertising and marketing mediums – approx 60,000 +
Number that didn’t register consciously – 59,999 +
...and the one I can name? The new Evian advert with the baby bodies printed on t-shirts worn by adults. By merging photographic stills the agency has created a sequence of jive dancing ‘babies’ with adult heads. Strange, but true.
Seen it? It is nearly as good as the roller skating babies, but not quite. It is however still brilliant - wickedly creative and appealing – instantly memorable and not a single word muttered for the whole 60 or more seconds.
Although there is no voiceover or overt content of sales message - it still says “active, fit, lifestyle, fun, youth and sensible too” at the same time – all of these are key messages for Evian. This advert is therefore a brilliant demonstration of strong visual communication.
Consider this example when we say that good design is ‘nice’ and does a job, clever visual communication could transform your business.
If your marketing is not driving sales then it is likely your message, or the way this is being communicated, is not appealing to your audience. Too many business owners overlook this vital piece of the marketing jigsaw. Strategy is all well and good, but without a strong clear message and a product that stands up, it simply won’t work.

Great graphic design? How about even greater visual marketing communications?
This article is about how to spot a great graphic designer or marketing agency and the answer is simple – not just someone who can make the page look good with pretty colours and images but someone who also has an eye for commercial opportunity and sound marketing knowledge.
This way they can benefit a client at the most critical level. This way they can create not just graphic design but develop and nurture relationships through strong visual communications for the product or service, to encourage and “pull” higher and/or improved sales enquiries, building business.
At whichever level you choose to engage (and whether they’re integrated or not) an effective marketing agency also fits this type of profile. A good marketing agency will always take an active interest in the longer term development of your business and share with you their years of experience and knowledge to produce appropriate, timely and most importantly strong, cost effective marketing communications. To ensure your investment is properly maximised, this ethos should not just reside with one or two individuals but be prevalent throughout the entire organisation.
